Robotics at PS 67

We brought Robotics to the elementary students of PS 67 through an after-school program called LeAp. LeAp is an organization dedicated to bringing skill-building programs to diverse school communities. Taj Brown, the LeAp director at PS 67 was more than excited to bring in Robotics to PS 67.

An excited group of students were eager to be part of Robotics. Karina Popovich began teaching them as soon as she joined the PS 67 LeAp team.  Karina taught them using a curriculum that she created. The curriculum is focused on the Lego Mindstorms platform, an educational kit designed for kids to get an introduction to programming and building.

Robotics began in PS 67 in the late spring and had met twice a week for the remainder of the 2018 school year. Karina and the other staff at PS 67 were amazed by how quickly the students caught on - they built their first robot in only 2 days! In a matter of weeks, this group of students became a group of friends dedicated to robotics.

A huge thank you to Taj and the PS 67 school for the welcome they gave us! We can't wait to be back next year to start PS 67's first Lego Robotics League Team!
